Abstract

Consultation with a migrant patient represents a challenge for Primary Care professionals. Social comorbidity, migratory grief, rare pathologies in our environment or language barriers are some of the difficulties we face in these consultations. In addition, sometimes we do not know if the patient has the right to healthcare, and if so, if it is free. With this article we aim to answer some of the questions we most frequently ask ourselves when attending a migrant patient. On the other hand, we also want to claim the need to look after the person taking into account their social and family context, as well as provide culturally appropriate care, trying to see beyond the organic pathology. Consequently, we will be able to diagnose, prevent and treat illness more effectively and provide quality care.
