Title: Improper demand in Primary Care

Objective: To determine the proportion of improper demand in primary care and the factors associated with it.

Design: Observational, cross-sectional.

Location: Primary Care.

Method/measurements: Improper demand defined by criterion validity, gender and age of physicians and patients, duration and type of consultation.

 

Results: The proportion of improper demand is 8.5% (95% CI 7.71-9.23). It is associated with younger physicians, female gender and forced type of consultation. The median duration of the daily agenda is 390 minutes (IQR 79.75). The median of improper demand per day is 2 (IQR 3).

Conclusions: The proportion of improper demand is high, at least 7.71%. It is associated with female gender, younger age and forced type of consultation. An overload of care is observed since the duration of the agenda is 390 minutes per day.
