Pneumoconiosis is a group of interstitial lung diseases encompassed, due to the inhalation of inorganic dusts in high concentrations, mostly related to occupational exposure due to disuse or inappropriate use of personal protective equipment that can progress to pulmonary fibrosis. This type of illness, generally called occupational illness, is a challenge for the country's economic sector due to permanent disabilities, as well as the quality of life that patients experience. An observational, descriptive study was carried out; case report, through the search and review of articles from journals indexed in search engines such as PubMed and Google Scholar. The patient's information was obtained from direct questioning, the initial physical examination and subsequent follow-up were performed by family medicine and occupational medicine at UMF 22 and referred to HGZ 20 for evaluation by pulmonology.

The case is presented of a male patient, an automotive painter, with more than 14 years of experience, with respiratory symptoms diagnosed as pneumoconiosis, caused by the inhalation of unknown particles in his workplace and who, despite treatment, progressed to pulmonary fibrosis; It was not possible to identify the specific type of substance to which he was exposed, since his work activity required contact, both for the preparation of the surface and for the application of paint, with various substances such as thinner, automotive sealant, automotive paints of different brands. , for a period of approximately 5 hours a day, it is known that the ingredients of this type of paint
