Keywords:
Alcohol, consumo de riesgo, prevalencia, AUDITAbstract
Objective: To know the prevalence of patients with risky consumption and alcohol use disorder in the population of three Primary Care centers.
Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study.
Location: Mos, Teis and Sárdoma Health Centers.
Method: Random sampling of patients, between 35 and 65 years old, who attend primary care consultation, obtaining N=188.
A directed interview was carried out, in which the main variables (alcohol consumption and its quantification) and other data of interest were collected with the aim of relating them to them.
A descriptive analysis of the variables considered and a bivariate analysis by sex, risky alcohol consumption and abstinence were carried out.
Results: The descriptive analysis showed that the percentage of abstainers is lower than that of non-abstainers. In the bivariate analysis based on sex, it was concluded that there are significant differences in the UBE/day variable between men and women.
In the bivariate analysis according to risky alcohol consumption, there are significant differences in UBE/day between patients with risky consumption and those without. In the bivariate analysis of the variables of interest due to abstinence, it was concluded that the variables sex, AUDIT and UBE/day are not independent of the abstinence variable and there are significant differences.
Conclusions:
Female sex and having university studies are protective factors in relation to risky alcohol consumption.
The risk of being abstainer increases by 2.74 times if the patient is a woman.
