Title: Bioethics, training and television series. Part I. Approach and methodology.
Objective: This work aims to analyse basic bioethical issues and their evolution over the years in television series, focusing mainly on the medical ones.
Design: The methodology used will consist in viewing several episodes of different television series, looking for possible conflicts related to each of the topics to be discussed, interpreting them and evaluating the role of the professionals in training to approach them. In addition, the related academic bibliography will be reviewed.
Conclusions: Medical series perform a pedagogical function by providing a frank, simple and accessible representation of bioethical problems, which allows us to evaluate, understand and develop them, encouraging critical discussions and fostering interest in expanding our knowledge in this regard.
The teaching of a plural and constantly changing discipline such as bioethics should adapt to all the formats available to it, trying to reach those who are unaware of it. For this reason, television series constitute a very broad and diverse field for the study of bioethics, as well as for its approach from the teaching field, due to the appropriateness of its format, which invites to a necessary debate and reflection.
